Why aluminium rather than PVC or plastic?

An aluminium boat is an investment for decades. Kimple hulls are welded from marine-grade 5052-H34 alloy that does not rust, crack in frost or fear rocks in shallow rivers. Unlike an inflatable PVC boat it needs no drying or UV protection, and unlike a polyethylene boat of the same length it weighs about half as much – the Trout 370 is only 59 kg and rides on a car roof.

All Kimple boats have flotation foam under the seats, so they stay afloat even when swamped. Each hull carries a CE plate stating the permitted motor power, load and number of persons.

Two series – two fishing philosophies

  • Trout series (Trout 370, Trout 440) – light V-bow boats that ride waves softly and travel on a roof rack or light trailer. Ideal for one or two anglers who change lakes often.
  • Hunter series (Hunter 350W, Hunter 370, Hunter 395, Hunter 420, Hunter 460) – extra-wide, near flat-bottom platforms. The bottom is only about 15 cm narrower than the gunwales, so two people can cast standing at one side. Best for lure anglers and families.

Which motor does an aluminium boat need?

The Trout 370 and Hunter 350W/370 run well with a 6–10 HP petrol outboard or the Fuber Global 1.5 electric; the Trout 440 and Hunter 395 plane with 15–20 HP; the Hunter 420 and 460 are built for 40–50 HP and coastal conditions. On lakes where petrol engines are banned choose our electric boat motors.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most often. Not here? Call us.

How much does an aluminium boat cost?

Kimple aluminium boats cost from €2,350 (Trout 370) to €4,950 (Hunter 460) for the standard configuration incl. VAT. Motor, trailer and extra equipment are priced separately.

Does an aluminium boat need to be registered?

Since 1 May 2022 recreational boats with an outboard up to 19 kW (25 HP) are not registered in Lithuania unless used commercially. Trout 370/440 and Hunter 350W/370/395 with typical motors therefore need no registration; Hunter 420 and 460 with 40–50 HP are registered with the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration – we help with the paperwork.

Do I need a boat licence?

On Lithuanian inland waters an adult may operate a recreational boat with a motor up to 19 kW (25 HP) without a boatmaster certificate (except in the Klaipėda seaport area). More powerful motors require a pleasure-craft operator certificate. Check the current rules before buying – we are happy to advise.

Which motor do I need?

From 6 HP for the small models to 50 HP for the Hunter 460. The maximum is stated on every product page. Fuber Global 1.5 and 3.0 electric motors suit all Trout and the smaller Hunter boats.

Why is aluminium better than PVC?

Longevity (20+ years without maintenance), resistance to rocks and hooks, stability when standing, and the ability to fit a deck, storage and a fish finder. A PVC boat is cheaper and fits in a car boot, but loses airtightness every year and is unsuitable for fishing standing up.

Can I see a boat in person?

Yes – in Kaunas (Sniegenų g. 26) and Mažeikiai district (Bugeniai village). Call +370 620 66666 in advance so we can show the exact model you are interested in.

What is the difference between Hunter and Trout?

Hunter boats are wide, near flat-bottom platforms for fishing standing up; Trout boats are lighter V-bow hulls that ride waves softly and travel on a roof rack. See the comparison table above.

Does an aluminium boat need paint or maintenance?

No. Marine 5052-H34 alloy does not rust; rinse after salt water and store without water inside. We use insulated stainless fasteners to avoid galvanic corrosion.

Are the boats CE certified?

Yes, every Kimple boat has a CE declaration and a plate with the permitted motor, load and persons. Hunter 460 is design category D.

Can I test a boat before buying?

Yes – by appointment we show the boats in Kaunas and, where possible, test on the water.

Do you sell to Latvia and Estonia?

Yes, we are the official dealer for all Baltic states; delivery is arranged individually.

Can I order another Kimple model?

Yes. Kimple builds boats from 3 to 12 m – we order directly from the factory.
