Choosing a trailer by boat length and weight
First criterion – maximum boat length set by the trailer maker: Tikki BX600-L for boats up to 4.5 m, Brentex 500B up to 4.8 m, Respo 511L191 up to 5.1 m. Second – payload: add the motor (15 HP ≈ 45 kg, 40 HP ≈ 95 kg), fuel tank, battery and gear to the hull weight. A Hunter 420 (200 kg) with a 40 HP motor comes to about 330 kg – within the limit of all three trailers.
Third – rollers and launching. Respo and Brentex have 5 keel and 2 side rollers so one person can winch the boat up; Tikki has continuous rollers and IP65 LED lights that can be submerged without disconnecting.
What can you tow on a B licence?
A category B licence allows a trailer with a gross weight up to 750 kg, or heavier if the combined car-and-trailer weight stays under 3,500 kg. All three trailers are in the 750 kg class (Tikki – 600 kg), so they suit any passenger car with a tow bar. Brakes are not required.

Yes, tilt and lock the motor; a transom saver is recommended for heavy motors.
Tyres?
155 R13, 500 kg each; spare optional.

Yes, hot-dip galvanised.
Theft protection?
Coupling lock (€48) and a chain.
